Scoring Methodology
The composite score is the weighted sum of three components, normalised to a 0–100 scale:
- Editorial rating (55%) — our independent 0–5 review score covering taste, packaging, availability and value.
- Mineral richness (30%) — combined calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate per litre, capped at a reference saturation point.
- Source authenticity (15%) — natural sources (spring, artesian, volcanic, glacial, mineral) score higher than purified municipal sources.
Scores are recalculated whenever a brand publishes a new water-analysis report. This methodology is intentionally transparent so health and nutrition writers can verify or replicate it.
