    Frequently asked questions

    How is carbonation measured?

Dissolved CO₂ is reported in grams per liter (g/L). Soft sparkling waters sit around 3-4 g/L; very high carbonation like Perrier reaches 6+ g/L. Published bottler values are used where available.

What's the difference between sparkling mineral water, seltzer and club soda?

Sparkling mineral water comes from a protected source with naturally occurring minerals. Seltzer is plain carbonated water. Club soda is carbonated water with added mineral salts (typically sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride) for taste.

    Are flavored sparkling waters sweetened?

Most use 'natural flavors' with no sweeteners (LaCroix, Waterloo, Spindrift, bubly, Polar). A few like Sparkling Ice use non-nutritive sweeteners. Sugar-sweetened sparkling drinks belong in the soda category.
