    New York Mineral Springs Directory

New York's mineral springs are unusual because many are naturally carbonated — CO₂ from deep limestone reactions rises with the water through a fault line in the Hudson Valley, producing wells that sparkle straight from the ground.

    Saratoga Springs

The most famous American mineral spring town. More than 20 named springs (Big Red, Hayes Well, Geyser Spring, Polaris, State Seal, Charlie, Old Red) sit inside Saratoga Spa State Park, most of them naturally carbonated and high in bicarbonate, sodium and chloride.

    Ballston Spa

A few miles south of Saratoga, sharing the same fault-line geology. The Old Iron Spring and Sans Souci Spring are still visitable.

    Sharon Springs

Schoharie County. White sulfur, magnesia and blue sulfur springs that supported a major 19th-century spa town with a strong European and Jewish clientele.

    Other New York springs

Richfield Springs (Otsego), Clifton Springs (Ontario) and Lebanon Springs (Columbia) — all historic spa-era mineral wells, mostly inactive commercially today.
