Georgia Mineral Springs Directory
Georgia's mineral springs cluster along the Appalachian foothills and the Fall Line. They drove a major 19th-century spa industry and a smaller but persistent bottling tradition that still exists today.
Warm Springs
88°F thermal mineral springs in Meriwether County, made famous by Franklin D. Roosevelt, who built the Little White House nearby and used the springs to treat the effects of polio. The therapy pools still operate.
Indian Springs
One of the oldest state parks in the United States. The mineral spring at the park has been used continuously since before European settlement and is still drinkable on site.
Lithia Springs
Naturally lithium-bearing mineral water west of Atlanta. The Sweetwater Park Hotel made it a national spa destination in the 1880s. Lithia Springs water is still bottled in small quantities.
Other Georgia springs
Powder Springs, Catoosa Springs, Cohutta Springs and the smaller north Georgia wells that supported the Appalachian spa circuit.
